Main Event Chair

Woodwork, at the time of creating this chair, was relatively new to me and I was just getting a hang of the more advanced power tools. Because of this, many of the finishes on this chair are hand-done, making the job of producing evenly curved edges a painstaking process. Each one of the five hundred rivets used to fasten the seat planks to the felt straps were hand-hammered, as I did not have access to a rivet gun that could reach as far as was required. The straps which connect each of the seat's wooden slats were hand cut, sewn and finished in order to give the project a more bespoke look that cut through the Japanese-minimalist inspired design.

The Museum of Old and New Art in Tasmania is an outlandish paradise which perfectly marries an appreciation of Art, Architecture, Culture and the Australian Landscape. David Walsh creator of the museum has long been obsessed with carnal desires of human life (love, sex, and death).  Architect Nondo Katsalidis captures this through the inventive use of the cliff-faced landscape, as well as the yonic, underground tunnels in which the exhibitions are located. There are two rooms in the above-ground complex names Hades and Thanatos (Greek gods of sex and Death) as a nod to Walsh's obsession.

An Hourglass

I affectionately refer to this as my meditation timer, however, meditating is not something I've ever been consistent with. Sometimes I just feel like setting it off because it makes a calming sound and brings peaceful movement into my landscape. It reminds me of a poor man's water feature in a way and it also makes me upset that 'sand features' aren't more of a trend in interior architecture.
